Hello .... what's this?

I snapped this picture a few days ago and thought I'd share them with you.
It was a very good day with bright blue sky and I was on my way out to fetch my children from their ECA when I look up and saw ...... a MOON, at about 6.00pm in the evening.
The sun was getting ready to set on the horizon and the moon made an early appearance in the sky.

Blooming Rose (Mawar Mekar) Earrings

This is the Blooming Rose Earrings that I mentioned in my previous update.
Two different gauges of wire being used for this weaving style, a similar technique
as was done for the adjustable rose ring.

Crafted with silver artistic wire with a Swarovski Pearl in the middle
and dangle from handforged ear wires.
The rose is approximately 2.5cm in diameter.

Blooming Rose (Mawar Mekar) Adjustable Ring

Here is my latest adjustable ring, "Blooming Rose" (Mawar Mekar). I called it a blooming rose because at a glance, it looks really like a rose which has just bloomed. This ring is weaved all the way right to the end, except for the shank which is coiled. I've inserted a small pearl (other beads could also be used) into the middle of the flower. It's adjustable so it can fit on any of your preferred fingers.
This design came from Kiki Aprilia Adiwdaya (http://borneoqueen.multiply.com). Those who would like to see her creations, please do so at the above website.

Blooming Rose Adjustable Ring, crafted in silver and copper artistic wire

Silver artistic wire with Swarovski Pearl

Natural copper artistic wire with Turquoise Bead

Diameter of rose is approximately 2.5cm. Could be made slightly bigger if preferred. I'm still in the midst of completing a pair of earrings and a pendant and should be ready in a day or two.
Until then ..... have a great weekend every one !

Wirework ~ Scorpions

Does the scorpions look real? Well .... they're actually made of wire from the hardware store. Actually, I have (well.. not me but my son who has interests in exotic animals) a real life scorpion living in terrarium.

I got this tutorial for free from Sherry of http://sherrysjewels.blogspot.com. I found out about her site from Szarka's website (http://magpiegemstones.com) thru Mei of http://wireblissmei.com. I also found out later that Jane of http://handmade-jewelry.club.com also had a post on the scorpion tutorial.
Sherry is a generous lady and she's got some free tutorials (and paid ones) to share. Immediately after observing the scorpion tutorial, I went to the hardware store to get a roll of wire on my way to fetch from my children from school. I completed not one, but three scorpions! I email her two days ago to ask for permission to share these pictures in my blog and she replied, giving me the go ahead.
Thank you, Sherry. =))

These three scorpions are now part of a deco on a table in my porch.

Adjustable Rings - Labradorite & Turquoise

In between doing the fabric flowers, I also did these two rings which is adjustable so that they can fit on any of your fingers.

I crafted the Tree of Life design onto the Labradorite Rectangle Gemstone Bead using brass and silver artistic wire. The gemstone with flashes of blue measures approximately 1.6cm x 1.2cm.
Labradorite was discovered at the end of the eighteenth century on the Canadian peninsula of Labrador after which it was named. It became a sought-after gemstone because of its intense play of colours. It also has very good healing properties. Labradorite is very effective in alleviating bone problems, disorders of the spinal column, rheumatism and arthritis. It also stimulates the imagination and improves the memory (Source: Healing Crystals and Gemstones by Dr Flora Peschek-Bohmer/Gisela Schreiber)

This piece, Teardrop shape Turquoise (Dyed) Howlite also with Tree of Life design crafted with copper artistic wire, measures approximately 1.5cm x 2.0cm

There are many variety of Turquoise Gemstone. Turquoise is a protective stone and is an effective treatment for a wide range of disorders. Psychologically, it lifts depression, gives self-confidence and promotes endurance. (Source: Healing Crystals and Gemstones by Dr Flora Peschek-Bohmer/Gisela Schreiber)

Handcrafted Fabric Flower (Lollipop) Hair Clip

Here's a couple of pictures of the fabric flowers that I promised to share. They're also called the "Lollipop" flowers. I made a few samples here for my daughter.
I went to the textile shop in town to look for fabrics and I came home with a few colours (fuschia, yellow, apple green, dark blue and white) of the textile (satin) so that I could carry out the experiment. Went home and started to draw circles in various sizes on the cloths, cut, singed the fabric, glued the circles in layers, the pearl(s) and finally glued onto the hair clips and the outcome as you can see from the picture. There are many tutorials out there on YouTube, so you have to be patient to go through each one of them to learn the trade.

Here is Evon posing with the "Lollipop" Fabric Flower hair clips.
Will be doing another variety of flower with a different cloth but this one needs some sewing done. So, stay tune for more updates of my fabric flowers.

Swirly Wire Wrapped Cross Pendant

Howdy...... how is every one? Hope every one has had a great week.
I've not been very hardworking in terms of crafting with wire but for the past one week or so, I've been experimenting with a little bit of this and little bit of that, including fabric. Yeah, you heard me right. Fabric. Fabric that could be turned into flowers to make jewelries, hair accessories, etc. Went into town to 'hunt' for some fabric and got a few pieces in different colours. Anyway, I'll try to post some pics up for sharing when am done with them. No promises, though.
Here's some pics of the Swirly Wire Wrapped Cross Pendant that I crafted out
from Mei's (wireblissmei.com) tutorial. Made entirely out of wire and a bead.
What I enjoyed most is making the swirls and to fit them inside the frame.
I ended up making two pieces of the pendant.

The cross here measures about 3cm x 5.5cm.
Handcrafted with only anti-tarnish silver artistic wire and a shell coin bead.

The above also measures about 3cm x 5.5cm and crafted with silver artistic wire,
turquoise gemstone round bead and swarovski bicone crystals.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend! =))

Twice Around The World Bracelet

I had a bit of time on my side, so I did this bracelet not in one piece but two. They're the outcome from Mei of Wireblissmei.com's latest tutorial "Twice Around The World". With step by step instructions and photographs, one is able to follow the tutorial without any problem. Other variations (ring, links for necklace, etc) could be derived from this design. She also has a tutorial on how to make a ring with this design which I have not tried.

Two versions of the TAW Bracelet.
Top - Crafted with 18 g black artistic wire and Cat's Eye Round Beads
Bottom - Crafted with 18 g silver artistic wire and multi-colour Swarovski Round Crystals.

Thanks for viewing and have a nice day!
